This is a gift for our local planetarium’s coordinator, who’s birthday is soon. When we do the constellation shows, he starts by going over Ursa Major and other names it had over the years and with other cultures, then the audience comes up with their own names and stories for constellations given to them. This makes the connection to the stars more personal and easier to remember. As an example, the coordinator then says Ursa Major looks more like a possum to him than a bear, and thus The Great Possum is born, having traveled to the stars to happily eat space garbage orbiting the Earth.
